Job Description

The Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and closing projects within budget and on schedule. This role requires excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills to manage project teams, stakeholders, and resources effectively.

 

Roles / Responsibilities

Project Planning and Scheduling:

  • Develop comprehensive project plans outlining the scope, schedule, and resources required for concrete projects.
  • Create detailed project schedules and milestones to ensure timely completion.

Budgeting and Cost Control:

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for concrete projects, considering materials, labor, equipment, and overhead.
  • Monitor project expenses and ensure adherence to budget constraints.

Client Communication:

  • Serve as the main point of contact for clients, maintaining regular communication to provide project updates, address concerns, and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Manage client expectations and handle any changes in project scope.

Subcontractor Coordination:

  • Select and manage subcontractors involved in concrete-related tasks.
  • Coordinate with other subcontractors on the construction site to ensure seamless integration of concrete work with other trades.

Quality Control:

  • Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure that concrete work meets industry standards and project specifications.
  • Conduct inspections and tests as necessary to verify compliance.

Material Procurement:

  • Source and procure concrete materials, ensuring they meet project specifications and quality standards.
  • Manage inventory and storage of materials on-site.

Equipment Management:

  • Coordinate the rental or purchase of equipment required for concrete work
  • Ensure that equipment is properly maintained and utilized efficiently.

Workforce Management:

  • Recruit, hire, and train personnel for concrete projects.
  • Manage and lead the concrete construction team, providing guidance and supervision.

Document Management:

  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and project correspondence.

Problem Resolution:

  • Address and resolve issues that may arise during the project, such as delays, design changes, or unforeseen challenges.
  • Implement effective problem-solving strategies to keep the project on track.

Progress Reporting:

  • Provide regular progress reports to the General Contractor and other stakeholders.
  • Highlight achievements, milestones, and any deviations from the original plan.

Closeout and Handover:

  • Oversee the project closeout process, including final inspections, punch lists, and documentation.
  • Ensure a smooth handover of the completed project to the General Contractor.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Evaluate project performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement lessons learned from previous projects to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Clear Communication:

  • Establish clear communication channels with the Project Superintendent to ensure open and transparent dialogue.
  • Clearly communicate expectations, goals, and project objectives.

Empowerment:

  • Delegate responsibilities to the Project Superintendent based on their strengths and expertise.
  • Encourage decision-making and problem-solving at the superintendent level.

Performance Expectations:

  • Clearly define performance expectations based on Operations manager input from P&L
  • Regularly review and discuss progress against these expectations.

Celebrate Successes:

  • Acknowledge and celebrate project milestones and successes with the Project Superintendent and the project team.
  • Reinforce a positive and collaborative project culture.
